Homes & Living Celebrates Premier Issue with Abstract
The weather was gorgeous and the view was breathtaking as guests arrived at the showpiece home of Mike Miller from Abstract Developments in Gonzales Bay this past month for the much-anticipated launch of Homes and Living Magazine. Guests had the opportunity to tour the entire home which is also the cover feature home for the inaugural issue of the magazine.

VICTORIA - A bailout package to address the European debt crisis seems to have calmed the markets. And although economic recovery may be tenuous there are signs that things are getting better.The Conference Board of Canada says that BC, along with Ontario, will lead the country's economic growth.And here's an example you've probably noticed, housing starts on Vancouver Island. They have more than tripled.In Greater Victoria last month, new home construction was up 200% over the previous April.

St. John the Divine's Fundraising Lunch
If you're like us, you've probably driven past the 150 year old St. John the Divine church at 1611 Quadra St. hundreds of times without much of a thought as to what the building means to the community. However, during a luncheon hosted this past month by local developer Mike Miller, we learned that for many of Victoria's most needy citizens, this church is a refuge of hope. The building is a long-time partner for the Cool Aid society, providing emergency space for the homeless. It's also an emergency food bank, a place where people in need can get help with no questions asked and no hoops to jump through.
The 150-year-old church – one of the city’s most valuable and historically significant buildings – is in dire need of a new roof, and it's not cheap. The project will cost approximately $750,000 and although the local congregation has raised $475,000 of that cost, they need help from the community to raise the rest, and it's a worthy investment. The building is more than just a weekly meeting place for the local congregation. It's a seven day-a-week refuge and community resource. Award-winning Victoria builder Mike Miller is throwing his weight behind the fundraising drive to put a new roof on St. John the Divine
The 150-year-old church, considered one of the city's most historically significant buildings, needs $750,000 to complete the project. Miller is hosting a fundraising lunch tomorrow at noon at the church, 1611 Quadra St., which has long contributed to Victoria's downtown by offering shelter and food through programs like the Out of the Rain Youth Shelter, Adult Emergency Shelter, Meals for Youth, a food bank that serves 6,000 people a year and a community adult mentoring and support.

Internationally acclaimed builder Mike Miller of Abstract Developments will open up his most recently completed project, Montebello, for public viewing on Aug. 22 and 23.
Touted by Architectural Digest as one of design's "most accomplished practitioners," Mr. Miller is offering the handsome Tuscan-inspired residence for sale for $2.8-million. Montebello is one of four homes that make up Edgecliffe Estate in Victoria's leafy Oak Bay neighbourhood. The remaining three residences include The Griffith - the site's original heritage home, on which Mr. Miller has recently completed a $1.6-million renovation - and two additional new houses, one complete and the other under construction.

Armada gold revealed at 2008 care awards
Victoria –The “Armada” project by Abstract Developments Inc., KB Design, and Swiftsure Woodworkers Ltd., was the big winner, capturing 6 gold awards, including Project of the Year at the 2008 CARE Awards held Friday evening at the Victoria Conference Centre. More than 250 builders, trades, and suppliers attended the gala event.
